On Saturday at Sarasota’s Selby Library, I taught a class on the importance of the first sentence, paragraph, and page. I used examples of edited pages from Fabulous Freebie First-Page Friday, as well as my own revised first page from The Celtic Crow Murders.

Although the lecture targeted genre conventions, the concepts have a wider scope.
